Question:
I have been diagnosed as having a bezoar (blockage in esphogeal area)

I have begun to recently vomit (more than the usual oops - too much food or water)and am having trouble keeping food down that has not previously been a problem (Roux-en-Y - 6/00). I had an endoscopy last week and the Doctor said I had a "bezoar" - it is a blockage (or with children it can be like a hair ball). Since I don't eat my hair, we know that food is getting stuck - they found food still in my stomach 14 hours later - it had not been digested or moved along. Has anyone heard of this - I am waiting for them to figure out what to do next - the biggest problem is when I vomit I lose my meds as well (and that is causing other problems as well). Anyone hear about this or have any ideas? Thanks! Fran    — Francine B. (posted on October 28, 2004)

Didn't they remove the bezoar when they were in there? It is usually removed endoscopically. I wonder if your stoma has a stricture? Hope you are feeling better by now.
