Question:
Has anyone experienced muscle twitches?
I have been experiencing muscle twitshes in my upper arms. They are really noticable. I am taking sublingual B-12, Iron, A multi-vitamin and 1200 mgs of biotin (to prevent hair loss). — Elaine S. (posted on April 27, 2004)

Are you on thyroid medication? I do that when I'm over medicated on my
thyroid medication.

I get those when I forget to take my calcium. Maybe a calcium supplement
should be added to your regimen. My surgeon says we need calcium
supplements after this surgery.

All the above are good ideas. I'd add that when I get muscle twitches and
cramps I drink one of those tiny cans of V8 juice to boost my potassium. It
usually works within a few hours, and if I have one of those cans of juice
every other day I don't get the cramps. The thyroid suggestion is a good
one if you take meds for thyroid. I understand that as we lose weight we
need lower doses of the med so we could become over-medicated without
changing the dose. Good luck. Lap RNY 11/13/03 -75 lbs.

Add about 2000 mgs. (minimum) of calcium citrate to your supps. You can
get good calcium citrate, inexpensively, from VitaLady.com.
You need calcium citrate, rather than calcium carbonate (which is Tums,
Viactiv), as we no longer have the stomach acid to digest carbonate. THe
only thing carbonate will do for you now is make kidney stones.
Good luck with finding the source of your spasms . . .
