Question:
i've only lost 67llbs and i am 14 months post-op
i am now beginning to gain wt. i am able to eat more than i should be able to and this has been since 2weeks post-op. pmd was not very concerned initially but after my 1 year f/u visit and learning that i had hit a plateu which lasted for four months, he ordered an upper gi because he was concerned that my opening was too large but it wasn't. ugi showed that my pouch was herniated. i am waiting for my f/u appt. has anyone experienced this? — barbara W. I don't have any solid answers for you, but you need to keep pressing your
doctor to find out what the problem is. If you've been compliant with your
doctor's eating guidelines, exercise, pouch rules, etc., there must be a
mechanical problem with the surgery. Don't give up until you get some
answers.

I dont want to discourage you and hopefully my situation is not the same as
yours, and you will continue to lose weight. However after my first year I
had lost 70 lbs, and never lost another pound. In fact I gained 20 of it
back, and I havent even reached my 2 year mark. I too thought that my
stomach, or pouch, had to of expanded because I found that I could eat a
lot more. I went in had the xray, and it hadnt, at least not significantly.
I have decided to go in for a revision and next month I will be shortened.
I havent really be given an explanation for why I gained the weight. I do
eat bad things, but I eat less than my twin sister, whom had the same
surgery with same lengths and sizes given to her, and she is 50 lbs thinner
than I am. So I am hoping that with the revision I will lose the rest of my
weight. Good Luck.
