I mix the sf carnation instant breakfast with half a banana and add some unflavored protein powder to it. It taste real good and goes down good. That is one of the items my surgeon recommends at all eating stages.

Yes you will. That is what my surgeon recomended as my protien suppliment after surgery. I don't really know why because it really isn't that high in protien.

You can drink it, but it doesn't really have enough protein in it to do you any good. You really need to find a protein shake that you like and go with that instead. It will take you some time and effort to find one (start before surgery!) but one you find one like I did you'll be so much better off. I use Amplify which I get through GNC, but it is available on the web as well.

It's what they gave me in the hospital the day after my surgery. It's not very high in protein (only 4 grams plus 8 grams for the milk, so a CIB shake has 12 grams) The dietian at the hospital suggested mixing in non-fat powedered milk for and additional 8 grams of protein.

My surgeons office recommended Unjury protein powder (www.unjury.com) which is ok, but after a while it gets kinda icky tasting to me, so what I did when I was first home and on full liquids was to have 1 unjury shake (28 g protein) and 2 CIB's (12 g protein) so I got 52 grams of protein in daily.

My surgeon recommended CIB no added sugar as my only "food" for a week after surgery. I agree with the others that the protein isn't ridiculously high, but frankly, since my surgeon wanted me to drink 5-6 per day, the daily protein was just fine. Also, truth be told, they taste 5 times better than the protein drinks. Good luck.

Yep. That's all I had for the first 2 weeks. I bought unflavored Unjury (20g. protein/scoop) and made the CIB (8g) with 8 oz. skim milk (4g.) and 1/2 scoop Unjury (10g.) so each 'meal' was 22g. For the 3 meals that made 66g. protein and frankly, I've tried a bunch (but not all) of the other protein drinks, and the CIB is the most palatable so far. The added Unjury makes it a very high protein drink and at least I can get it down. Good luck.

My dietitan says I'll be on CIB for breakfast, lunch and dinner for 3 weeks. And also, she advises us all to add 2 teaspoons of Just whites to each serving. The just whites have 3g of protein per serving. So between the CIB, just whites and milk its a good amount of protein.
