What are some key questions I should ask at my consult appointment?

Hello Kelly! Here are just a few things that I remember asking my surgeon at our first meeting: How long have you been doing GBS? How many have you done? Do you do the lap proceedure or the "open"? How big do you make the pouch? What sort of diet will I be on once I come home? How long should the surgery last? How long will I be in the hospital? Do you have a special Bariatric unit set up for this type patient? How many follow up visits are included in the surgery cost? How many check-ups will be available to me the during the first year post-op? Is there a support group who meets certain days of the week? Is there a nutritionist on staff that will come and speak with me? Well, that should get you to thinking about what type personal questions you would like to know...be sure and write them down as they come to you..then take that sheet of paper with you and jot down the answers.... never can be too informed!! Good luck, Lisa

WLS Deb has a list of very good questions on her website. You could print out a list to take with you when you go in. That's what I did. Hope this helps!! Becky M.
