There are 3 people that I can think of right at the moment who have lost
way more than 200 pounds. You might want to go look at their
profiles.
First is Lissa Reed, who is Manager of Member Services
at the site. The URL to her profile is
http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/profile.phtml?N=R986230233
Then
there's Pete Herida. The URL to his profile is
http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/profile.phtml?N=H982614091
Then
there's Kirk Thompson, who is a volunteer helping people put an audio
message on their profiles. The URL to his profile is

I know there are many more, but those three popped into my head when I saw
your question. You might also go to the before and after pics. People who
have their photos there have lost at least 100 pounds. You can do it. The
surgery will help greatly, but if you use the tool wisely, you can get to
where you want to be. Good luck!

I have lost 211 so far. I started out at 410 had my rny on January 11 2002
( I am now 199 and still losing ) You have to work for it. I bike, walk,
and skate, plus at the end of this month I am joining a real gym ( use to
belong to curves which I may add is a great place to start )
You can lose what ever you want, you just have to want it !!!
Best of luck, and don't give up

Hi...I'm not quite at 200 pounds lost, but I have lost 181 pounds since my
surgery on 7/17/02 and 194 pounds since my initial consult on 4/25/02 (yes,
I lost 13 pounds while waiting for the surgery). It is possible, but in
order to do it, you have to really "work the tool" - change your
eating habits, incorporate exercise into your life, etc. Best of luck in
your WLS journey!! JR

You can do it. I started at 465 and I'm down to 212 now, so Ive lost a
little over 250.

Tracy, you might want to check into the BPD/DS. I think it's a great
alternative for those wanting to lose over 150-200 pounds. I had an RNY,
which I'm very happy with, but I started at 306 at 5'6". I've lost
about 150 pounds, but if I had to lose considerably more, I probably would
have opted for the DS. There's a Yahoo group devoted to the DS if you want
to research more. Maybe someone on here can post the address for you.
It's always good to review all your options. Good luck!

Hi there, I know a woman from my support group that started at 500+ pounds
and has lost 300+ pounds. Here is her OH profile, which has a link to her
personal site as well. I'm not sure how long it took for her to lose it.
But, as I've read many times: exercise, protein and water are keys to
success. Good Luck!!!

Hi!! I am 18 months post-op. I started at 378 lbs. I am down 220 lbs!!!
YEP!! YOU CAN DO IT!!! I weigh 158 now, and I do have about 20 lbs of lose
skin to loose yet, but it is tightening up every day. About six months ago,
I had boobs that looked like walnuts hanging from the bottom of a
stretch-out balloon... one of those tube baloons, too! LOL! They have
actually tightened up. They are almost as perky as they were when I was
20!!! oh, yeah, what exercises am I doing? Walking. That's it. The
massive amounts of loose and wrinkled skin that hung from my upper arms,
the insides of my thighs and behind my knees has tightened up about 75%...
They look nearly "normal", now. My surgeon and physician both
keep telling me that I can have plastic surgery to fix this, but that I
need to realize if I keep walking and stay on my diet, my skin will tighten
up on its own. I am 39 years old, too. My abdominal muscles are actually
looking pretty darn good!! LOL!! read my profile... it has pics on it...
and email me if you want to talk! :~)

I've lost a bit over 160 in 11 months - many of the people in a yahoo group
I belong to have lost more than 200 (WLS400plus at yahoogroups.com) pounds.
I've been told that for people who are over 400 pounds our window of
opportunity to lose is longer - not sure why though. I've slowed down
considerably, but still losing! Good luck to you!

Hi, I started at 465 and 17 months post op I am now 275 and still losing
after a 3-4month plataeu that was mainly emotional. So it can be done. I
still want to loose that extra 50 pounds since I am a tall girl, 220 is a
perfect weight for me. So good luck, keep believing and you'll do it as
well.
