Is there a certain BMI that most people consider a lightweight? I have a BMI of 44 and see a lot of posts about people having BMI around 42, etc.,and saying they were lightweights. Any thoughts? — Jeannie4 (posted on May 21, 2003)

For a lot of people being under 45 is a light-weight - for others being
under 50 is. Depends on your perspective.

Well, I have a BMI of 40, which respectfully DOES make me a bit of a light
weight here, considering..BUT (or, BUTT..lol) when you look and see that I
need to lose at least 97 pounds, in order to be healthy and feeling SO much
better...well...???

I was considered a light weight and a fast loser. I don't know why, but I
just go with the flow. My BMI was 44.4 and is now 24.5. I just became 8mo.
post-op and have only 13# left until goal and im just so happy:o) Good
luck!

Definition of a lightweight:
Anyone who has less to lose
than you do! ;)

I have a BMI of 36. Since I am short (4'11"), I only need to lose 54
pounds to be ideal (24 BMI). I am technically a lighweight eventhough I
think of myself as a heavyweight. LOL!!

There's all different perspectives on this I guess. I think you're a
lightweight. Usually when you have 100lbs to lose, give or take some is
when you're considered a "lightweight." So this often means that
you lose slower, I was a lightweight and got to my goal within a year.
Goodluck to you :-)
