Question:
I NEED to have this surgery done. I have no insurance avail at work...
and was turned down by public assistance. I have a BMI of 82.2 And I feel miserable. It takes everything I have just to get out of bed in the morning. Not to mention all the health problems i have. I feel like I am going to die. and I know that if I don't get help soon. I will die. Can anyone help me? — tigger15022 (posted on May 13, 2003)

What was the reason you were turned down by state aid? Do you make too
much money? Have you considered taking out a private loan? If you are
making too much money (and frankly at a BMI of 80 + I'm REALLY surprised
you can work!), but can't afford to borrow for the operation, have you ever
considered quitting your job? I know that sounds bad, but sometimes it's
the only way to get state aid in covering the surgery. Wish I could be of
more help!

hi Melissa, I am in the same boat.Have you tried vocational rehabilatation?
Thats who im going through and I already have an evaluation for June 5th. I
couldnt get state aid either with $800 a month for 4 people...crazy isnt
it? Voc Rehab (VR) will help if your weight affects your ability to
work...and with your BMI so high it must....call your local VR office and
make an appointment...if you need any pointers email me @
[email protected] state are in? good luck and if you want it bad
enough you will get it...trust me...Love
