Question:
Is it possible, if you keep on very small portions, to not ever stretch your pouch?
I mean the usual stretching, I believe most of us end up with a 6-8 oz stomach after a while, right? Is it possible to keep your stomach smaller or is that a silly notion? — Kimberley E. (posted on January 13, 2003)

Kimberly, that is not a dumb question at all! I think it is technically
possible to keep the tummy very small if you are eating just a few ounces
at each meal, however, once your appetite returns a few ounces will not
satisy and you will be hungry. Also, with just a few ounces your calorie
intake is very small and that is not healthy for the long term. The
average adult female should be taking in over 1200 calories a day to get in
enough nutrition from food. Our goal is to get to a normal weight and eat
normally, so a 6-8 oz tummy would do that for us. A 2 oz tummy would not.

I was wondering the same thing, I am almost 11 months post-op and still can
only eat very little at a time,I hope my pouch does stay pretty small, I
don't have toworry about eating too much that way...

I have a vertical pouch, so less stretch. But yes, it holds probably 6-8
oz at one time. In a scope, however, it still appears tiny. So, you're
asking can you accomodate more food and still have a functional pouch? Yep.
I don't WANT unlimited volume.
