Question:
Pregnancy, TT, and Hernia repair

Okay.I am about 10 months post op and down 75 lbs.I am 20 lbs from goal but if I stayed where I am now I'd still be happy.I havent lost any weight in 3 months.I was planning on trying to get pregnant in January.Very excited about that .However now I have a HUGE HERNIA THE SIZE OF A CANTALOPE. Yuck.MY surgeon said I am ready for an abdominoplasty and when I went for my consultation with the plastic surgeon, he said no tummy tuck before pregnancy, but instead of doing the TT with the hernia repair,we could do a breast reduction with the hernia repair. So what I want to know is, what should the "order of operations " be?How soon after BR and HR could I reasonably wait till pregnancy? The hernia is so big that I LOOK pregnant now.Maybe I should adopt and get the tummy tuck.Noone would be the wiser. Will insurance(MVP) cover the TT if itis after the hernia repair?    — Stephanie H. (posted on November 7, 2002)

i had this same question and the plastic surgeon I spoke to said minimum a year even if longer if you could wait. The best results would be to wait but sometimes the best result can be set aside for the real repair work needed to be done. Its hard to grapple with the pregnancy issue when you want a child so bad :) best of luck
