Hi Ami. I, too have a BMI of 50, have no major health problems and was approved without any problems. I have weak knees and ankles, but I have never been treated for either. I listed those co-morbidities as well as shortness, slight sleep apnea and back pain. Once again, I had never been treated for any of it. It is a good idea to list even the little things that could be considered co-morbs. But it all comes down to the insurance company. Some require documentation that you had been treated for these weight-related problems. No matter, it doesn't hurt to list it! Good luck!

My BMI was above 50 at approval time...I am 31, NO HEALTH PROBLEMS whatsoever, healthy as a horse, just fat as a pig...HAHA! Anyway, it took PHS HealthNet 2 days to approve me. All they asked for was Psych evaluation and Nutrional Evaluation. Good Luck!

I am 29, had a BMI of about 42, and had no health problems. I was approved within 2 weeks from BCBS PPO. I too was worried that my weight was not enough to get approved on alone. But due to the experts at BTC in the insurance dept I had my surgery July 2nd...exactly 2 months from my first counsultation. Best wishes to you!
