Question:
I am 15 months post-op and I continue to have these
I do not think this is gas because it seems to be in the intestines and not the pouch itself. It seemed to start after being on antibiotics but continues to be a problem, I stopped the antibiotics and had to back on them again for a whole different problem, (sinus infection the first time and sore throat thingy the second) a within a month and a halfs time. The surgeon seems to think its the antibiotics, but I just don't understand what could be causing this, it's not painful and I am still eating normally and having normal daily bowel movements, but the bubbles are very annoying. It seems to be roughly the same time of day around 4pm everyday that it gets really bad?? Any thoughts on what this might be?? The Dr suggested I try to eat yogurt to help put "good" bacteria back in, but that doesn't seem to help.... and I really don't know if that's the problem ???? — Nicole R. (posted on August 9, 2002)

Try going a day with NO sugar (no milk, no crackers or anything with hidden
sugars) and no processed carbs. Bread, Ritz..... soft white stuff.
Although I am very anti-SUGAR, I never gave much thought to bread &
such and had accepted evening puffies. Not bad, just annoying. I skipped
my usual sandwich type food and LO! No gas. Interesting coincidence?

Nicole, I was going to suggest what your doctor has about the yogurt. I
would also recommend a very bland diet for a few days to see if it helps.
ie:bananas, cream of rice with no salt or butter. Just try this for a few
days and it should tell you if this is the problem. With my daughter and
antibiotics, I've been there...done that. Good Luck.
