Robby, I don't dump either, but I'm also losing very slowly. You weight
loss looks good. I'd say keep up the good work.

My nutritionist said that some people (about 30%) just don't dump. She
wishes everyone would so that you wouldn't even be tempted to eat things
that are bad!!

Or perhaps you've raised your sugar tolerance? Try going cold turkey on
sugar for several days or a week. That woudl be no hidden sugars either,
like milk, applesauce, yogurt, juice, graham crackers--things you think of
as healthy are loaded with sugar and can slowly raise your tolerance. No
suagr added does NOT mean sugar free. Actually flip it over & read the
sugar grams.

I've never dumped either, but from the sound of it, I'm glad I haven't.
I'm 11 weeks out and am down 86 pounds, so it hasn't been a problem for me.
Just remember why you had the procedure done and stay diligent when it
comes to snacking. Keep up the great work! - Mike

I am a little over five months and have never dumped either. I don't
really eat sweets, though...so maybe if I did eat more I would. I have had
a spoonful of ice cream at a party...a bite of a cookie now and then, and a
quarter of a Hershey's Miniature when I am desperate for chocolate - hey,
it happens. Other than that, I've never pushed it...and don't think I want
to. I know my weakness. The only reason you should be concerned about
dumping is if you think you don't have the will power to avoid high-fat and
high-sugar foods. I know, easier said than done, but if I can - anyone
can. Good luck, be strong! ~Paula M. RNY, 02/14/02, down 101 pounds.

I don't dump, either...OK, there was that ONE time, but I had eaten a LOT
of bad stuff. It was a good lesson to learn. I can eat a lot of sugar w/o
dumping, at least 2 full-size candy bars, I would think, maybe more. NOT
that I have actually done that; I haven't, but I have had an occasional
desert & I know I CAN eat quite a lot of sugar. Fats don't seem to make
me dump either. I followed my diet pretty well & dilligently for most
of my first post-op year & lost about 170 of the 180 pounds I
eventually lost over more than 2 years. I am now within 3 pounds of my goal
weight (it's close enough, I am counting it as AT goal!), so, believe me,
just because you don't dump doesn't mean, at ALL, that you can't still be
very successful. Exercise, learn about proper portions, develop good
habits, & don't splurge TOO often. With me, even though I CAN eat
sweets, I really don't very often. They do not have the power over me they
used to have; I am the one in control now, not them & I don't crave
them like I used to. Plus, I can make a small bag of m&ms (my secret
guilt) last for HOURS! I'm glad I don't dump & can enjoy a treat now
& then. Anyway, that's my experience.

You probably do dump - your profile says you had 4 cookies, but not all at
once - most people need over 6g of sugar at teh beginning, which goes up to
about 12g or more as you try it here and there. And it has to be in one
serving (or about an hour in my experience) - the sugar grams don't
accumulate over a day. You may not have dumped because you have been GOOD
with your diet, not that there is anything "wrong" with your
surgery! If you Really want to know if you dump? Try drinking a flat
orange or grape soda - they have 56 grams of sugar per serving!!!! I bet
half way through you think you are going to die. I admit I eat more sugar
than I should and at 16 months out, I can handle about 17 grams.
