Your surgeon will most likely be the one making the decison between
proximal and distal. It all depends on your BMI. Here's an easy way to
remember them: distal is more by-passed intestine, proximal is less.
Distal, like distance...proximal like proximity. The higher your BMI, the
more intestine likely be by-passed to promote greater weight loss.
