Question:
Patients of Dr. Schauer at UPMC, what is the pre-op group meeting about?
I am scheduled for May 14. It will be from 3pm to 6pm. What will we do? I was told to bring my info packet. I had most of my pre-op testing done and the results sent to Dr. Schauer (I switched surgeons). Is there anything else I should take that maybe will speed up the process? TIA — Tracy R. I dont know about the meeting but i can tell you that Dr. Schauer is the
greatest. My sister had surgery somewhere else and was life flighted to
UPMC and he saved her life.

Dr Schauer is GREAT! Its a group educational meeting. You will be PRIVATELY
weighed. Meet most of the staff, go thru the risks and rewards of surgery,
Q&A with the doc. Given orders for any additional tests you might need.
When you leave you will a walking encylopedia of surgery info, including
post op care. This group meeting is great, and a big improvement over the
one on one meeting. I had the private one, Jen the group and I attended
both. So I can compare! With schauers appointments leave plenty of extra
time, delays can and do occur. Dont plan on being out of that meeting till
after 7 at the earliest. I like that our surgeon will spend extra time
with those who need it in clinic, although this can delay things later in
the day:(<P>
Be sure to attend tonights suppoprt group meetingf at 7 PM. I believe were
having a parade in our old clothes, and I am bringing mine. Sounds like
fun.
