How soon after giving birth could I have WLS?

I am not sure for WLS. I have one child (1 1/2 years) and plan on one more.
My surgeon said that after wls (open rny in 7 days!) I can have another
baby (one year for sure later). And after birth I think I will need to wait
8 weeks for my tuumy tuck. I hope this wasn't too confusing. It is all up
to your surgeon and ob/gyn. Also take into consideration if you are breast
feeding or not. They would most likely wait until you stopped. Good Luck!

To give you my situation as an axample may not be good but here goes. I
gave birth to my 2nd child and I was told by my insurance company that my
weight during pregnancy did not count and that I have to have a BMI of 40+
for two years to be approved for the surgery. I then went throught the
whole appeal process and was denied twice, started the process anew six
months later still not meeting the critea but armed with 2 letters one from
my PCP and one from my GYN, I was approved within 3 weeks, so over all my
second child will be 2 March 29th and I had my surgery Nov 5th 2001 so it
took me about 18 months, I certainly hope you don't have to wait that long.

I had my second son March 2001. I started looking into wls the beginning
of July, but couldn't get a consult until the end of November. Everything
was sent to my insurance in December and I was approved within 48 hours. I
had my surgery January 2002. Good luck to you!!!

My surgeon recommended 6 months, as did my PCP.. I seen my surgeon at 5
months post - baby.. and we started the insurance. Even though it took me
32 weeks to get approved he would have done it within the month..
