Question:
I am constantly burping up bubbles mixed with saliva-did anyone experience this.?
Everytime I burp, I almost gag & burp up bubbles mixed with my saliva-no smell, no taste, & clear. I am on liquids for 6 weeks & in my 4th week. Can anyone help me? — Pamela A. (posted on December 30, 2001)

I had the same problem, it lasted about 6-7 weeks, but I promise it will
get better. I think it just takes that long for your body to heal. I don't
have any problems with it anymore and I am 4 months post-op. Hope this
helps

Yep!I had the problem. Everytime I opened my mouth I was burping. In
peoples faces, and I couldn't help it. They ask me a question or come up
and talk to me and I'd open my mouth and start burping everytime I tried to
talk. It only lasted about 1 week. I thought it was the food I was eating -
which isn't too different than what I eat now. But it did go away.

Hi I'm 18 days post op and have the same thing happen, when I burp i get
the white bubbles with saliva and it drives me nuts.. I think it's because
something I've eaten hasn't digested the greatest or gets caught in my
hietal hernia.. I'll be checking for more responses cause I'd love an
answer too..lol

I used to rattle the windows pre-op. Now I do the
"bubbles & foam" thing. I no longer have a normal
burp. I am 11 mos. post-op RNY open. I don't know if there's
any help for this or not.

This happened to me until about four days ago (8 1/2 weeks post op). Now it
seems to have completely stopped. When I researched this in the library, it
said that the foamy stuff and burping was part of the healing process. I
didn't believe it then ,but now I do.

I'm 5 weeks post op and I've been experiencing the same thing. I discussed
it with the surgeon and he explained that it's a combination of mucous and
digestive "juices". He suggested trying hot tea to disipate it.
Sometimes it works for me .. sometimes not. Also, it was suggested taking
Robitussin, (they have sugar free) following the directions on the label.
It's suppose to help with nausea also. For me it's hit and miss.
