Hi , it usually depends where you go as to how much. I'm having my open
rouxny on Oct 1......eeekk 5 days away, at Sycamore hospital in Miamisburg,
OH. My surgeon is Dr Fallang.....He is so good and highly reccomended. The
surgeon fee was $5500, due one month before surgery date. Hospital fee for
3day stay was $9000, due at latest week before surgery (sent mine same time
as surgeon fees) , and to be put to sleep,$650. So total of $15,150.....not
a bad price for health. Insurance turned me down......so we paid cash, but
when I'm feeling better after surgery, were gonna fight it. There are
companies that give very low interest rates for surgery expenses.
Geographic location is a factor in fees as well, some surgeons wont take
cash, CAN YOU IMAGINE, its better than insurance, they get paid up front
for cash. For insurance the have to wait for payment. Actually you get an
earlier date paying cash.....Aug. 25 called surgeon to let him know will
pay cash after letter of denial came day before........had surgery date of
Oct 1 already

I am self pay. My surgeon requires payment up front, $4750 for RNY
surgery. I gave his office a cashiers check today. They take cash or
credit cards or cashier's checks, no personl checks. Hospital estimates
total cost for 3 day stay will be $11,000. They want half up-front and you
can take up to 9 months to pay the balance. I expect that my hospital
charge will increase since surgeon expects I will have to stay for 5 days
and if he takes out my gall-bladder, that will be an additional $1500,
payable in 30 days. You can be sure that this is one hospital bill I will
review with a fine toothed comb.

Anonymous, I understand if that happens, but if it does,......We'll just
pay the bill.

I am having surgery on October 2 and I am going in tomorrow for my pre-op
stuff. I am self-paying. I am paying the doctor $2800 down, the assisting
surgeon $560 down, and the hospital $6700 down. The anesthesiologist will
be more, but they are going to bill me and not require any money down.
Good thing, since I'm tapped out!
