Question:
Has anyone tried hypnosis for sugar and/or other food cravings pre or post OP?
I am required to lose weight prior to surgery and have been having great difficulty. I really want to use this surgeon, so switching to one that doesn't require the weight loss is not something I am considering. I am having a difficult time with cravings for sugar, especially baked goods. I have fallen off my diet wagon many times in the past three months and it is discouraging and quite frankly humiliating to have this lack of control. It is making me crabby and crazy. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried hypnosis to help them through something similar and if so, how did it work? Your answers are greatly appreciated. — Denise M. (posted on September 14, 2001)

I tried hypnosis preop. That was my last "Im gonna do it this
time" weight loss attempt before I became aware of WLS. Probably 1 1/2
years ago and actually lost approx 30 lbs. in about 5 months. 1. It is very
expensive 2. Just like any other weightloss program as long as you are in
control you succeed. Once the thought of junkfood and loss of control come
back I gained back the 30lbs. plus. Good luck
