Question:
Am I losing to fast???

I had the Open RNY on May 8th. I am now down 32 pounds in only 19 days! I'm not complaining, but I'm concerned that this may be to quick. Maybe I will also get gallstones from so quick a weight loss??? I am getting my strength back and am walking short distances once or twice a day. I'm enjoying eating smaller amounts of food, but often I just don't "feel" like eating and don't or if I do I will just have a popsickle. Thanks for any imput.    — Danmark (posted on May 27, 2001)

Daniel, Bless you guys, but man or man, can you men drop the weight faster than the women! Your Y chromosone helps you out there! Your weight loss is great, not unusal for 2 1/2 weeks post op for a guy at all! I lost 25 by my 3 week post op visit. You're doing super; if your gallbladder goes, it goes.. you don't want to "try" to slow down your weight loss! Take care!

Daniel this must be one of the benefits of being a MO male. At my 2 1/2 week check I was down 42 pounds,I just tell people it is my baby fat coming off. I go for my 6 week check this Friday and according to the scale I am down a total of 59 pounds. I just can't get over how fast it is coming off and how good I feel. As far as the gallstones did they give you any meds to prevent this. I am on actigall, this is supposed to prevent gallstones with rapid weight loss. At this rate we will be down to size 38 by August. Congrats and keep on losing.

Daniel, it is very important that you eat properly even when you don't feel like eating more than a popsicle.

Daniel - congratulations on your super weight loss! I am excited for you. My surgeon told me that we all have reserves that we can live on for a while ... just not forever. As long as you feel good and are getting all your vitamins, minerals and protein ... I wouldn't worry about it too much. About the gallstone thing ... it's best to talk to your doctor about that. Good luck as you continue your weight loss journey.
