Question:
pre-op hemorrhoids
Kind of an embarassing question but I was wondering if the hemorrhoids I have trouble with, when I stand at work for over 8 hours a day more than twice a week, which become very painful is a co-morbidity of all the excess weight when one is morbidly obese? They don't bother me as much if I remain more sedentary. Anyone else have hemorroid problems pre-operatively. I would really love to hear if anyone had an improvement after weight loss surgery. Can't believe I got approval for my surgery!! I've been struggling with insurance companies for more than a year. I can hardly wait for April 14th. I would like to talk to anyone that had surgery at Mills-Peninsula with Dr. Meyerowitz and learn more about how the experience has been for you and also what to have on hand post-operatively. If anyone is having trouble with their insurance company and would like a sample of a grievance letter from a squeaky wheel I would be happy to share mine with you. I happen to be a morbidly obese Registered Nurse and an advocate for the morbidly obese. with appreciation, Diana — Diana D. (posted on March 27, 2000)

Hey Diana: I am so glad to hear of your approval and upcoming surgery.
Yes, I did have pesky hemmorrhoids before surgery and have not had a single
episode since surgery 6 months ago. I did not use it as a co-morbidity,
but you may have something there. I will be thinking of you. Good luck on
your surgery.
