Question:
Can we take Ditropan XL for over active bladder?
I started out with a UTI a month ago,got it cleared up with antibiotics. Still had frequent night time urination. Sometimes getting up 10-15 times a night. Had an x-ray, cat scan, and dye cat scan on kidneys. All went well with kidneys. My back is still killing me after a month, but all urine cultures normal. Just put on Ditropan XL last night. Got up 3 times, so better. The dye cat scan showed a benign fatty tumor on my left adrenal gland. They will dye scan again in June to check for its growth. If it grows, I'll have surgery asap. Have not been to Curves in a month because of backache. Have been to chiropractor each week, with NO relief. Any help from anyone on Ditropan XL will be app. Are we allowed to take it, or is it in the family of RX we can't take? Please help. Anyone with a benign fatty tumor on adrenal gland>all help and explanations app. Thank you in advance. Kathy/Open Proximal RNY/ June 23, 2003>>lost 101 pounds!!! Hi yes you can take it I did before surgery for about a year or so then I
switched to taking detrol la which is the same thing for over active
bladder, I just liked it better because the ditropan xl always gave me dry
mouth real bad. But they both work wonderfully and are very small pills. I
continued taking the detrol la after having my surgery , but now thank god
a year later I haven't been having any problems and haven't been having to
have to take it, I guess my bladder has gotten better even though I do wake
up a few times in the night to go to the restrrom but not even as near as
much as I use to too before it was at least 5-7 times or more a night! I
don't wish those problems on anyone, but thankgod for the wonders of
medicine for that! So yes do take it if you need it and good luck to you
hope it gets better for ya!!!

I was on Ditropan XL prior to my surgery, and was told NOT to take it after
surgery as it is an entreric coated tablet. I attended a seminar and
learned that there was a new med- OXYTROL- which is a patch that you wear
on your hip-and change every 2-3days. I have been using it now for approx.
3 months; with very goods results, plus I no longer have the dry mouth that
I had with the Ditropan. Talk with your Dr. about what options are
available. GOOD LUCK!
