Question:
what is the average weight loss per month ?

just wondering if anyone can tell me what the average weight loss each month after surgery is. how much should I lose in about 4-5 months if I am 294 starting out?    — amy H. (posted on November 9, 2003)

no one can answer this for you. As you should already know, it varies person to person and is based on many things. each person is different and even a person who started at the same weight as you will lose differently.

Hello. If you go to the gallery and click on Weight Loss Planner (it is on the right column) it will give you a general idea of how you will lose. It all depends on your body and what you do. If you are eating correctly, getting all your fluids, taking your vitamins and exercising you have to leave the rest up to your body and not worry about the rate of weight loss. :)

Amy, I don't know about averages, but perhaps I can help you. I started at 289, I'm 5' 8". I will give you my monthly weight losses. The only thing this will give you is my results. Hopefully, the info. will help you. I am 6 months out. -30, -15, -8, -8, -6, & -8. Please, feel free to read my profile or e-mail me. Hugs, Karen Corkran

As the previous posters said, it really depends on the person. I started out at 5ft5 and 294 pounds. At 5.5 months out I had lost 65 pounds, and a little over 6 months out I had lost 79 pounds! Each month it varies with how good I'm being! LOL! I do consider myself a slow loser however. Hang in there and try not to compare yourself to others, or you might get discouraged. I have to be careful about that. Good luck to you! :)

I'm almost 6 months out and down 107 pounds. My weight loss chart is on my profile to show the exact losses per month, but you get the picture. If you're asking for averages, mine is almost 18 lbs per month. I started out at 5'5" tall and 291, and currently at 184. Everyone is different and even those that follow the plan perfectly may find that they lose slower or faster than those that don't. Good luck!

Hi, I'm 5'7 and weighed 276 5 months ago Wed. Here are my monthly weight loss numbers: -29, -20, -15, -15, -14. It is tough to compare yourself to others, as everyone else mentioned. Exercise levels play a HUGE part in avoiding plateaus (not always, but if you are lucky). Good luck to you!

20-30 the first month. 7-14 each month after that.
