Question:
5 strictures in 9 weeks. When will it ever end? or will it end with endescopes

5 strictures in 9 weeks. Go tomorrow for 5th scope and balloon dilation. I need some serious help with getting strictures every 2 weeks. I'm desperate for help, suggestions, and answers. Plese help. 5 strictures sounds like I'm going to need my Open RNY redone all over again. Is that true?????? I am afraid to blow my pouch and stoma out. True??????? Please help me. Thanks. Kathy~I had my 5th dilation almost a month ago.Like you,I was getting them every 2 weeks..My surgeon said that if I get another one he has to re-do the stoma connection.However after my last dilation he did prescribe prevacid granules(granules that are mixed with 2 tablespoons of water) to be taken twice a day and the stricture has not come back.This is the longest I've gone without getting one.I think that it has helped my stomach to heal properly after the last dilation.The dilations themselves can cause so much irritation to that area that it can actually promote a stricture to reform especially if you are prone to them already.

Hang in ther I am 7 months out and have had 25 diolations. After th 15th one I had a revision done where they cut out 2 ulcers and some scar tissue and reattached my stomach I have ahd about 10 more diolations since then but I did go for one on Tuesday of this week and it had stayed open for the first time since my surgery. Hang in there...
