Question:
Will I Be Able To Go On A 12 Hr. Trip 1 Month Post-Op?
We had planned to go visit family in Florida and also to go to Seaworld. It will take about 11 or 12hrs. to get there. Now my surgery has been scheduled for Sept.4,which I am by no means complaining, but we are supposed to leave out for Florida on Oct.4 so does anyone think I'll feel up to a long trip that soon? Thanks. — Deborah A. considering that you're having LAP and your young, and if you're in
relatively good health and have zero issues (food, dumping, etc.) you
should do just fine. I had open and at 1 month there is no way I would
have been a happy camper doing a 12 hour trip PLUS all the walking around
at Sea World and such. I hope you allow a bit of extra travel time so you
can rest after meals in case you DO dump and need to be near a bathroom,
take plenty of water with you and allow yourself to rest as needed. Good
luck and I hope you have a ball!

Just make sure you stop a lot to stretch and exercise your legs while you
are in the car. I don't think you will want to do all that walking just
one month out. Maybe you can get a wheelchair from there and use that.
But everyone heals different so go by what your body tells you. You will
know only then if you can handle it. I am only 7 days post op and I am
driving to Texas which is 8 hours away. My doc just told me to stop a lot
and stretch and I will know when I am overdoing it. Make sure you also
find the closest hospital that does your type of surgery while you are down
there in case you have any complications then you will know where to go.
Have fun!!
