Question:
Have you had this problem?
Okay...I am almost 4 weeks out, I have had zero complications until 2 days ago. When I drink water, my stomach cramps. It doesn't happen with my protein drinks or with food. I am not gulping my water...I am sipping. I call my doctor, her nurse thought it might be gas or air. I made an appointment for Tuesday...cause it isn't life threatening...I just wanted some other opinions. Thanks. — Lynzy H. (posted on July 3, 2003)

I found that drinking cold water gave me stomach cramps when I was a new
post-op..

I was a regular water drinker before surgery, but now (three months post),
plain water doesn't seem to sit well for me, either. I don't get cramps
like you, but I do feel uncomfortable in a way that's difficult to describe
after drinking plain water. I get my liquids in much better if I put some
lemon or lime juice in the water, or if I have Crystal Light or some other
drink mix. I don't know why it happens, but there's a definite difference
in my tolerance for water.

Tap water or cold from the fridge gives me cramps too, so I drink room temp
water (I buy Sams choice bottled water from walmart) and just leave it on
the counter. But I can drink kool-aid with ice and cold but it doesnt
bother me.

It's me again...the water cramps my stomach at room temperatures and ice
cold temperatures.

ALL water hurt my pouch for at least the first 4 weeks and then it suddenly
got much better. Don't forget that your new little pouch is still healing.
