Question:
Okay, Ready for the weirdest question? I got it...

Oki Doki, you guys will probably think I'm really odd for noticing this, and the reason why I'm asking is I don't know if I actually experienced this or if it's my imagination. I'm almost 6 months post, -82 lbs, down from a size 24 bottoms to a 14/16. I just bought some new underwear that are kinda snug, but I figured that's fine, they'll fit perfectly real soon. The thing is, since they're kinda tight, I noticed that after about 2 weeks of the new smaller underwears that I bought, I have an indentation on my butt wear the panty line kinda squeezes. It's really odd, what I'm wondering is since we're losing so much fat, is it just more pliable and squishier, and therefore will mold easier into shapes of our clothing? And, in fact, if anyone does know the answer to this, does this mean that maybe using an electric massager on our legs will take the cellulite away even more effectively now since our fat is pliable? I told you guys it's an odd question, hopefully someone knows the answer or can speculate with me on this!! :) Thanks!!    — Iris B. (posted on March 26, 2003)

Hi Iris...I'm not exactly sure I understand the question entirely but I think you're talking about the skin "down there" being looser? I had some issues with that. It's not that the fat is more pliable, it's just that there's less of it, so your skin is still a bit baggy. As for the cellulite, I had it til the bitter end...once I'd been at goal for a while, it all went away. I would recommend using a good toning lotion to speed up the skin's elastic healing.

Iris, your underwear is too tight. It's no different than wearing a watchband that's too tight everyday - you get an indent that seems not to go away.

I've noticed the softer/squisher flesh. In fact when I first noticed it I thought it was strange. The more I thought about it I was somewhat panicked thinking... I'd better get exercising now!LOL I'm not sure about the massager... heck, it couldn't hurt to try! I've been doing a lot of toning/strengthing exercises and am in hopes that this will help. I haven't noticed the strange "butt" lines yet but I'm sure that will come with new undies on my end. I'm still wearing the nice old ones. I haven't convinced myself that I need new ones yet. Keep me posted. I would love to know how things progress with this!

After -121 pounds, my flesh is "squishier" also! I think it's because my skin is so loose, that I kind of "flap" around inside my skin. Everything jiggles, also. I'm hoping exercise, time, and plastic surgery will take care of it. In fact, I may post a question, myself, about "is it loose skin" or "is it fat" that's hanging down!

Hmm...that's pretty odd. I don't have an answer for that, but I do have something that might help you out with the flabby skin and cellulite. I'm 10 mos. out and I have been doing (in addition to lots of water, cardio, and strength training) something not everyone would think works, but it does for me. I've had some of those body wraps which are supposed to help you lose inches. Made a HUGE difference for me, and because I'm continuing to lose weight of course, the inch loss stays off. It helps to tighten the skin a bit. I would recommend those to anyone. The other thing is that I'm getting Endermologie treatments, which is supposed to also help firm up the skin by stimulating the tissue. Also has worked VERY well. So those are my little tidbits. Neither are cheap, but it's my goal to avoid plastic surgery at all costs -- as that would cost a hell of a lot more, and in my case, the plastic surgery would not be considered reconstructive (lucky me, I do not deny that). So best of luck to you -- email me if you have questons!

When my sister lost 60 pounds I made fun of her because she was so "squishy". I would poke her and laugh. But now that I have lost 120 pounds, she does the same thing to me! I shake and giggle every which way and now I am the "squishy" one heehee
