Question:
I had surgery 3 weeks ago to correct a staple line disruption.
I lost 18 lbs in the first 10 days, but since then I've only lost another 4 lbs. I also seem to be alot hungrier and able to eat more than I was after the initial surgery. Is this normal or not? — Meredith A. (posted on July 2, 2002)

Hi When did you have your original surgery and how much did you lose with
it? When I had my staple line repaired and my pouch transected it was 9
mos after my first surgery. I had lost 68 lbs from it, went in for the
transection, gained 12 lbs of fluid and have now lost an additional 50 or
so lbs. It has been 8 mos since my repair. I think you are doing great!
Even with the repair, I don't think you can expect to lose as fast as the
first surgery. It doesn't matter as long as you are losing again, right?
I did progress through the diet stages faster with the staple line repair
than I did with the original surgery. I had to start with clear liquids,
full liquids and soft foods. I didn't have to puree this time. Anyhow,
aren't you glad you are fixed? And can go on with your life now? Did you
get transected this time????? I hope so.
