Question:
I had open RNY on 3/6/02. I have done okay on losing up to about 10 days ago. I've
lost 56 lbs, but none in the past 10 days. A'm afraid I eat to much. How much are you eating? I eat very little bread and some pasta. Should I totally avoid bread , rice and pasts. How many calories are we to eat. I still have a50 lbs to lose. — jan M. (posted on May 20, 2002)

You have hit a plateau. Your body is playing catch up and is regrouping
right now. Keep your chin up, it will end! I had my first one at 3 weeks
post op (lasted for 2 weeks) and I plateau literally every couple of weeks.
I still think to myself "this is it, that's all there is and I won't
lose anymore". Then the scale will literally drop 5lbs overnight. I
have never had a steady weightloss. Its all come off in chunks. I'll lose,
then immediately go on a plateau for a good 2-4 weeks then drop another
bunch of weight and repeat the cycle. We are all different and will lose
differently. Don't worry! I started out at 297 and now down to 205 in
almost 7 months. I have about 50lbs to goal. Not too bad!
Up your water and protien intake and exercise!

I guess I should've answered your questions too! LOL! Yes, avoid the bread,
rice and pasta. You need to concentrate on the protien and not the carbs
(carbs turn to sugar which turns to fat!). I don't really count calories
but some people do. The average is between 800-1200 a day. I just focus on
the protien which will keep me fuller longer than the carbs. Therefore I
eat less often. Somedays I can eat more than other days. I doubt your
eating too much. Really, look at what you ate before and compare it to now.
I can eat more than a couple ounces now so that was kind of freaking me out
at first. But, the weight is still coming off so I'm not worried. Like I
said before, up the water, protien and exercise and the plateau will end.
