Question:
Why does Kaiser (Nor. Cal) take sooooo long for approval???
Could someone please tell me how much longer I will have to wait for an approval? It has taken me two months to complete the required test, before my chart was even sent to the committee. I called today and spoke with So. San Francisco, who states that my paperwork was received. When I asked how long will it take for me to receive an answer I was told that it can take anywhere from three weeks, to three months. Why is the wait soooooo long??? Could someone please share the experience with Kaiser in Northern Cal. Thank you for your response. — [Anonymous] (posted on August 2, 2001)

IMHO, I believe they do this so you will give up and not get the surgery.
It's been my experience that they will try everything in their power to get
you not to have it. The nutritionist tried to scare me, the doctor tried to
scare me, and none of them at the Santa Teresa facility even knew what they
were talking about. They don't follow NIH guidelines, I think they're
waiting for a lawsuit.
