Question:
Is it possible to reach your goal weight after having a RNY???
I am currently 315 pounds, is it possible to reach my goal weight of 185 pounds? I have already started to make significant dietary and lifestyle changes, so that I may reach goal. Please share your weight loss experience. — [Anonymous] (posted on July 29, 2001)

I started at 367 I'm now below my goal weight..Yes, it's possible.. If I
can do it anyone can.. The surgery is a tool you have to do the rest NO
MATTER the surgery type.. the amount of weight loss & keeping it off on
RNY & DS and others are all very similar in results... My motto
is.... "It does not matter the road you travel only how well you
maneuver the vehicle...I'm 19 months post-op and holding my current 140
pounds perfectly with little to no effort. I eat anything and everything I
want now.. The quantity is the factor that is the beauty of RNY. Full is
full no mater the pouch size. My Fobi pouch keeps me in control THANK GOD
and Dr. Husted :) here is my before and after pics..

I started out at 294 pounds. My original goal for myself was 175 (my doctor
thinks I can weigh less than that). This morning the scale said 172 so I'm
less than my original goal. I now think I would like to get down to 165 or
so. I had open RNY on 8-31-00 and have done really well with only minor
complictions (I have a small umbilical hernia that needs to be repaired). I
never really thought I would make it to goal weight. I was sure I would be
one of the few who fail at WLS since I had failed at every other atempt to
loose weight. So far, so good.

I am about 25 pounds below my goal weight, what I hoped to reach before
surgery. I went from 274 to 147 pounds. I am 6' tall. You can do it! :)
