Question:
Does anyone know about the LAP Band procedure just approved by the FDA?
IT LOOKS PROMISING! I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROCEDURE? ANY THOUGHTS WOULD BE APPRECIATED. — Marybeth O. (posted on June 25, 2001)

If you are talking about the Swedish Adjustable Lap Band, they just
approved clinical trials in the States. I know the procedure is being done
in Mexico and of course Sweden.
One of the trial hospitals in the states is in Chicago, it is either
Rush-Presbyterian or Loyola, I can't remember what I heard. Wish I had more
to give you.

I am having a Lap-band on July 17th in Mexico with Dr Kuri. I am self-pay
$7,500. It is approved here but very few DR have experience so I am still
going to Mexico because they have been doing it for a long time. I like it
because there is no stapling, or cutting the stomach and it is easy to
reverse. You can also adjust it when you want if you feel you have started
eating too much.
