Question:
Did you have to
It seems like my meds don't work like they used to. I told my PCP and I think, he thinks I'm just after more "drugs". I'm on Paxil, Estrace, and xanax. — Robin Q. (posted on April 28, 2001)

Ask your doctor about WHERE in the digestive system those drugs are
absorbed. If they are in parts that have been bypassed, then no wonder
you're not getting the benefit from them that you used to. On the Xanax,
I'd suggest that you take it sublingually. Put the pill under your tongue.
Let it slowly dissolve. It will be absorbed into the mouth tissue and
enter your blood stream that way. You will get a quicker benefit from it,
and you won't "lose" any of it in the digestive process. It
tastes NASTY.. but if you really need the Xanax (Like I do!) it is
tolerable!

Just a warning about Xanax. Did you know that it is synthetic valium? It
is also highly addictive! I was lied to by my doctors years ago about
xanax and went through hell because of it. Try to get weaned off asap but
never abruptly stop it. And, the first thing Xanax does is lower your
inhibitions. Best wishes.

I'm a very distal (29" common channel--DS) and I take xanex just fine.
Get the full effects even with a low dose of .25ml. So glad it works when
I need it!! <g> --->>

How far post op are you? The reason I ask is because I felt the same way
recently. I've temporarily upped my paxil by 10mg, but my doctor allows me
to play with the dose. I've been clinically depressed since childhood. I'm
just now five weeks, but it seemed I've been more depressed. Walking helps
that naturally as well. I'm also on estradiol. I've not had any noticable
signs that would make me question its effectiveness. As for the xanax, get
off that stuff as soon as you are able. It's so addictive! It might also
slow down your metabolism since it's a narcotic.
