Question:
Help!!! I am three mths post-op and lose maybe two pounds per week, but everytime I
lose two pounds I gain it back the next day then lose then gain. I'm going crazy. I know I'm not suppossed to weigh each day, but now I'm paranoid that I won't lose anymore. — [Anonymous] (posted on April 22, 2001)

Sounds like a plateau.

I am currently experiencing the same thing. The first three months I lost
52lbs, but for the past two weeks I've only dropped 2lbs. So I understand
what you are going thru. If you want you an email me, and I would be happy
to talk and see if we can come up with some solutions together.

Hi! I'm four months post op and exactly the same thing happens to me all
the time. I have been weighing myself every morning to look for patterns. I
am a very slow loser, but what I realize is that I will lose 2-3 pounds in
one day, gain it back, then gain 1 or 2 more, then go down 3-4 pounds and
start over again. The gain doesn't bother me any more, as I realize it is
usually fluid retention and doesn't last. I also notice that when I have
been doing this, if I up my protein, water and *total calories,* yes, eat
more, then I break the plateau quickly and go down noticably. don't fret!
It does happen. If you want to weigh every day, you can't let the little
ups and downs get to you. Use that as information to keep yourself on
track, but don't beat yourself up. It is normal for us to fluctuate in
weight as much as five pounds! I can vary up to five pounds in ONE DAY! So
please don't get discouraged. It'll happen for you. If it can happen for
me, (Under 200 for the first time in almost 7 years!!!!) It can happen for
you, too. Good luck! Email me if you want to chat, at [email protected]

I went through the exact same thing. Still do. When I hit the lose a couple
gain a couple, I increase the protein and exercise, and then I start losing
again. I am 6 mos. post op and have lost 72lbs. It is alot slower, but I
feel great. I am wearing clothes I packed up last year for the good will.
Thats the important thing. How you feel. Take care and keep your chin up.
