Question:
A question about binders

I'm having WLS in june I was looking for info on binders and some suggested wareing a one piece bathing-suit for support, has anyone else tried this? Can anyone tell me a store online that sells them? Thanks-    — [Anonymous] (posted on March 19, 2001)

I just had my open RNY this past week on 3/12. They gave me a binder in the hospital...actually it was mandatory to wear it at all times. And of course you will defintly want to wear it when you are up and walking around. And they sent the binder home with me. I dont think you need to worry about a binder, unless your Dr. is telling you to buy one??

Find out if your doc can order a 5-panel abdominal binder through the hospital where you're having surgery for you to take home. (You may need two just to go around). Walgreen's had them but they were only 2 or 3 panel. They are standard issue by my surgeon for his RNY patients. They are ALOT different than a one piece swimming suit. I willingly wore mine for the first two months after surgery. It was a life saver. I had to do a lot of stairs, lifting, and bending.
