Tylenol doesnt work for me...and I have a splitting headache right now! — Robin Q. (posted on January 17, 2001)

Every doctor's instructions are different. My doctor told me I could take
whatever I wanted. I am careful and only take medicines on a full stomach
so as to protect my pouch from irritation. I have taken excedrin and did
not have a problem. Good Luck

Excedrin contains aspirin, and Motrin contains ibuprofen, both of which are
known to cause gastric irritation and inflammation in some people.
Patients who have a history of or tendency for ulcers, and patients who
have had any type of gastric surgery are warned not to use these products
because they could irritate the stomach lining or sensitive suture area and
cause bleeding. My surgeon is very specific with his patients that they
may never use these medications again in any form. Extra-strength Tylenol
or a prescription pain reliever of his choice are his only recommendations.
Good luck!
