Yes, have to offer some encouragement. Yes, my staple line did disrupt. No, you most likley didn't out eat it. The body will do everything it can to normalize. It doesn't matter WHO put it in or HOW it was done. If the body doesn't like it, PTUI, it spits out the staples. Only a scope will tell for sure, of course, but do you feel more acid? Any pain like burning? Nausea? Any changes in the bathroom? And yes, I was also the queen of the marginal ulcer (at the stoma) and either the disruption caused there to be a continual drip of acid (much like the MGB) or the blockage of the ulcer caused the disruption--who knows? Whatever, there it was. And I had my doc take the lower stomach OUT, completely. I had a 30 yr history of ulcer, and the last thing I needed was for an ulcer to form in that lower segment once it was sealed off. So, I begged, wheedled, nagged and made a nuisance of myself til I think he was ready to remove it without benefit of anesthesia, perhaps right through my throat!! The recovery was MUCH faster, with only a few extra lbs on board. BUT, first step is a scope to get someone's eyeball down right on that staple line. The hanging and waiting is the worse part. Honest. Worse than another surgery. The things my mind did to me during that wait period were AWFUL. It would've been kinder to anesthetize me for those weeks! Hmm, maybe for them, too as I don't stress quietly.

It is EXACTLY yours and Michelle Curran's comments that led me to have the longitudinal gastric resection/duodenal switch. My body can't reject or disrupt what it doesn't have in it. The longitudinal gastric resection achieves the goal of a smaller stomach, while leaving it to function quite normally, with a pyloric valve intact. Let this be a lesson to all who are considering WLS.

Did they do a scope to look at the ulcer? That would show if your staple line was ruptured. I just found out 1 week ago that I had a bleeding ulcer in my pouch. Only took them since JUNE for figure it out. Took me 2 days of pooping blood then vomiting blood and HUGE CLOTS FOR THEM TO FIND IT> They all kept saying it was in my head!!! Was in the ICU for 2 days with levels down to 27 (at 25 they transfuse) In my case I lost more weight..didnt gain it. Hope you are doing well.
