Question:
Please, I need your help and prayers...
My insurance carrier has had my packet for a week. How long should I wait before calling? I am sooooo afraid of hearing "not approved". Should I call? Should the surgeon's office call or should my PCP call them? Please pray for me that it will be approved. Please let me hear your recommendations. Love & Hugs! — Lillian G. Hello!
It took me several weeks for Aetna US Access to give me my approval, but I
also telephoned every few days. The sqeaky wheel gets the oil, as they
say. I have a habit of just ignoring important issues sometimes, as in
finding out if my policy approved my WLS. I try to be conscious of this
form of denial, as it usually causes me much more anxiety than if I simply
faced reality. So, I forced myself to call and deal with this, as it was a
terribly stressful period for me. Please call them and push yourself to
find out your status. Having the issue in front of you will give you more
control over the situation, whether approved or denied. If you have the
answers, you have the power to move to the next step either way. My
thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
By the way, I had my open RNY July of 1999, and it was the single best and
most positive gift I ever gave myself.
Write to me personally if you like. ([email protected])
