Question:
Has anyone tried using a juicer in order to get fresh veg/fruit down after surgery.
I have done a lot of reading of posts but have not heard where anyone has been using a juicer to juice vegetables or fruit so that it goes down easier after surgery. They say that juiced vegetables have more vitamins than canned. — Ron M. (posted on July 31, 2000)

Yes, I have! I was trying to juice and mix protein powder with it....you
know, vitamins from the veggies along with the protein we need? It was
good, but I encountered two problems. To make it palitable, I added
carrots or a half an apple. When veggies or fruits are juiced, they are
really concentrated, and the sugar in the carrots and apples was too much
for me...i felt sick for about an hour after drinking it. When i limited
my carrots and apples I did not have that problem...but, it changed my
elemination and i got painful gas...lastly, it was so much trouble!!! i
have this fancy juicer that does everything but take out the trash...but it
requires super cleaning each time and by the time i cleaned it, i would be
out of the mood for drinking my final product. Juicing was kind of a
passing fad for me...it is good, if I had one of those super mixers that
sell for $400 I would do more juicing because you put the whole veggie in
and it grinds it up. Hope this long convulooted answer helps.

Ron: Yes, I did. I have a fancy juicer and really enjoy it. Right after
surgery, though, the juices may be too strong so you may have to dilute
them. You can make your own creamed soups this way also. Enjoy.
