Question:
I would like to speak with someone who has needed vit b 12 shots
I have been having problems with the inside of my mouth and now looking it up I see that it could be a vitamin b 12 defenicy. I am going in for blood tests soon but just wanted to talk to someone who had this same problem. Thanks alot. [email protected] — Tina F. (posted on June 17, 2000)

Two or the RNY surgeons I spoke with told me that B12 deficiency is not
uncommon following RNY and each advises his patients to get monthly B12
shots. This is a cautious approach, but not unusual, it seems. Whatever is
causing your problem, I wish you the best of luck sorting it out.

Hi Tina,
Just wondering, what has been happening to the inside of your mouth. Here
lately I have been experiencing mouth ulcers ALL THE TIME. I used to get
them just prior to my period but it seems I am getting them more than once
a month now. If it is from a B-12 deficiency, then I need to talk to my
surgeon and see if I need a different form of B-12, as I am only on 1 pill
daily. If you can, please email me and let me know what you have found
out. Good Luck...

B-12 no problems here with my RNY all labs 6 months post-op are
perfect and I only take Flintones Complete with Iron and Vicactiv for
calcium..My PCP and Surgeon said no need for B-12 suppliment.. If
you're anemic before and after surgery may have to take some sort of
Iron related medication like TRinsicon for a short period of time. Each
surgeon and surgery diffrent and each has it's own set of vitamin
regements to follow..
