Question:
What is our card?
In my readings I have seen mentioned when going out to eat at a restaurant, make sure to bring our card, so I am entitled to a "childs plate". Can someone fill me in on this? — Teresa O. (posted on May 5, 2000)

Teresa,
My surgeon gives a card to his patients explaining that we had surgery
and now need smaller portions. It asks if we can have children's
portions.
You might want to ask your Dr. about it!

The card is something that many drs. have made for their
patients to take to restaurants. They just say that you had
the surgery and are unable to eat an adult size meal. It just
basically gives you permission to order from the kids menu.
Not all drs. do this from what I understand but if you ask
I bet you can get one made up. The Dr.s name is usually on
the card as well.

You can also check with your nutritionist.

I first heard about the card when I read about Daryl on his website. I
asked my doctor about it and he had never heard of the card. He now gives
them to all of his patients. So if your doctor doesn't do it, ask him. What
have you got to lose?
