Question:
I'm about 3 1/2 months postop, I had RNY distal. My question is if anyone
has experienced the problem I'm having. ABout 1 to 2 inches from the top of my incision I have a painful burning or stinging feeling behind my incision. I am going to the doctor next week but I'm curious to know if anyone has had this or if they know what it could be? — hannah R. (posted on January 16, 2000)

Hi,
I'm also about3.5 months post op.open rny. After my initial surgery I had to
have an abscess removed ,so the healing process was slowed up.As an
asthmatic I use steroids ,so again things are a little slower.
To your question ,I find if I have been coughing or wheezing I get a pain
under the top end of my scar.I put this down to the flesh etc being new and
not enjoying being put under sudden strain.
Also a similar pain occurred when I started a new stomach exercise. The only
other pains have been wind/gas or if I have rushed a meal. The pain then
tends to be in the back between the shoulder blades.
Certainly seeking medical help is the best option,do let me know how you
get on when you have your consult, hope everything goes well.
