Question:
Mood Swings/Depression
Hi all! I just have a quick question, I'm just over 2 months post-op and been feeling depressed. I'm doing great with my weight loss but I have days where I'm just really down and out. I know that due to weight loss the chemicals in our brain change and that is probably why I feel sad some days. I started taking some St. John's Wart just to see if it will help, I take my multi vitamins and my xtra B's! I'm thinking it's just a phase but I'd like to hear from anyone who's had the same experience. — [Anonymous] (posted on November 1, 1999)

Hi, my name is Jami. I haven't had the surgery yet so I can't
say that I have experienced it. However, I have heard from
several people and even from several doctors that this is
very common. Your body is readjusting to everything and your
body is going through a major life style change. Be easy on
yourself and treat yourself to something special. Maybe a
nice long soak in the tub by candle light or going out and
buying a size smaller blouse. The depression will pass
(from what I understand).
