Question:
Dumping? After a couple years?
I had surgery about two and half years ago and have lost 130 lbs and doing fine. Just have one problem, after about a year I started eating some things containing sugar and didn't have the "dumping", so have continued with that practice. However, I've had episodes where I get a bit shaky, break into a cold sweat and have chemical taste in my mouth. It doesn't seem to be right after eating something with sugar, like couple hours later, or sometimes in morning when I might have had someting sugary the night before. Could this be dumping? If not, has anyone had this experience and what might it be? — Donna S. (posted on April 28, 2005)

Are you sure you're not expecting?

Donna, I believe you are having a "Hypoglycemic Episode". This
happens and happens to alot of us from early post op. I am not a doctor
but you have described EXACTLY what I go through occasionally and I am
almost 3 years post op. I also still dump though. Do some research on the
above topic and see if there is any resemblence. I hope this helps some!

I was just reading about something like you described....I think it is
"dumping" but late dumping. At www.advancedWLS.com they really
explain the physiology and what's happening so you can understand it. I'm
pretty sure it is in the frequently asked questions (FAQ) section of the
website. Good luck Sue

I am almost 9 years post op and have those same symptoms. There is a
particular meeting I go to that is fond of really rich chocolate desserts.
I have to sit where I can't see them as it will cause that same symptom
just looking at them.
