if they are self funded you can appeal to the company to cover you.
Otherwise, you either find a job yourself that covers it - or you 'self'
pay - you just have to be careful with self pay if you have any
complications from the surgery your insurance company will NOT cover it and
it could cause you financial hardship.

I had to hire a lawyer to get by my insurance exclusion. If your exclusion
has an out for medical necessity that might be one way to skin the cat so
to speak! Good luck!

I had to fight humana.. they took over the tricare prime. The previous
company did not have any prob with a lap RNY but humana refused the surgery
stating that it was an experimental procedure. WELL>>>>> I
am an RN... I prepared with all sorts of proof that a Lap surgery is the
way to go and after the first appeal, I was approved. If you need any help
please e-mail me. GOD BLESS You...... FR

I'm a self-pay, and it is an option. You may consider having the surgery
outside of the United States to save money. Refinancing your house, saving
up, borrowing (taking out a loan), etc. are ways to pay. Surgery in Mexico,
for example, costs approximately US$8,500 to US$13,000 depending on the
type of surgery etc. That includes airfare, hospital costs, doctor's fees,
hotel, and so forth.
Don't give up hope!

contact lawyers Walter and Kelly Lindstrom at "Obesity law and
advocacy Center" they represented me against a major corporation and
we won. They are very resonable, and since Walter had the surgery years
ago, he is very familiar with it's benefits. THEY WILL HELP YOU! i'm
proof... good luck
