Hey Julie, Post op Decemeber 8th 04, to be honest I don't even remember
them taking it out. They took mine out while I was still medicated, and in
and out of it. Hopefully the same happens for you. I really don't
remember much the first 4 hours after surgery. Good luck.

I recently had my drain taken out and I can tell you that it doesnt hurt
that bad, there is a burning sensation as they pull it out but it is done
very quickly and it is over in seconds

It feels funny -- Like the way your stomach feels when you are on a roller
coaster. Lasts a few seconds then it is gone. Take a shot of your pain
meds before they do it and you'll have no pain!

I know this is probably going to sound strange, but I didn't know what a
G-tube was until after I had the surgery and read about them on OH's
message board. Apparently my doctor inserted it after I was put under and
it was removed before I woke up.

It didn't hurt me but it kind of felt nausiating for a brief second. It
was kinda like a pop and it was all over. I got mine out after 2 weeks.

nothing that would resemble pain and I didnt take anything before I went
to have it removed.

I know this is out of the norm but...my husband removed mine at home 7 days
postop! It was the day before Christmas Eve and my surgery was not done
locally. As far as the pain or discomfort went, it ws a non-issue. Nothing
to it. Just more anxiety over the thought of it.

I had my G-tube in for eight weeks. I had to go in 5 times and have an
endoscopy done to stretch my opening,so I had the tube in longer. It didn't
hurt, just kind of a weird feeling like pulling an IV out or something. No
big deal. I was ready for it to come out.
