Question:
Is it possable to get a stricture/blockage at the Y connection?
I am 13 months post op and I was wondering if it is possable to get a stricture/blockage at the Y (where the common channel meets and is reattached to the small intestine)? I have noticed after eating meat like chicken, steak, pork... I take small bites and chew well. I can hear a "POP" like a cork being popped off a champaigne bottle, and it usually happens within a 1/2 hour after eating meat no pain, just the feeling and sound, I usually hear 3 or 4 differant poppings a few minutes apart, so Im guessing its the meat passing through, and it never happens any other time. Its always in the exact same spot on my tummy about 5 inches to the left of my belly button. If this is a beginning of a blockage, would they fix it durring my hernia repair, and how long would I be in the hospital? thanks in advance. open rny 4/24/03 >112# enjoying the ride!! :0) — wizz46 (posted on May 14, 2004)

LOL, I get that popping sound too. Same spot as you. I don't think it's a
blockage at all, just our 'normal' digestion sounds. Could be the meat
pieces passing through or could be a little air moving thru the pipes. As
long as you don't have pain and can go #2, don't worry.

Yep you can get a stricture anywhere that there is a surgical connection.
