Question:
post op Dexa Scan know your T-score

FYI, Hi everyone, I just wanted to remind everyone to get a bone density scan, and to take their calcium suppliments. I am almost 1 year post op and doing GREAT! I had a dexa scan today for my 1 year post op bone scan, and I am happy to say my T-score is plus 1.3 I am 44 and have lost a little over 100 pounds and my score is at 114% of a 25 year old, its above normal calcium range for my age. (doctor said this was great, considering I had wls, and lost so much weight). I do take 500 mg of calcium citrate 3 times a day for a total of 1500mg per day, besides what I get in the foods and drinks I consume daily. So to the new post ops, take your calcium!! And I get them from www.vitalady.com Thanks for listening, and enjoy the ride :0)    — wizz46 (posted on April 8, 2004)

Rosemary: So happy to hear that your bone scan showed good results. This is one the issues that frightens me a bit, and it's good to hear some positive results. I am about 7 months post-op, and plan to ask my doctor for an order to have a dexascan done soon. Being older myself (46), I am already at the age where you start to worry about this, and having WLS gives us a "double whammy." Good for you on the news. And congratulations on your wonderful success. Lap RNY 9/11/02, 270/175/???
