Question:
I get unbelievable pain after eating sometimes, and lately it's getting worse
I sometimes get unbelievable pain after eating sometimes, and different things trigger it...twice it was fish, once it was mashed potatoes, once it was bean soup, and I thought it was maybe I was eating too fast, but when I only had two tastes of bean soup (very mashed up) I knew it wasn't from that. I throw up on just about everything except cottage cheese, jello, liquid shakes (adkins) and I'm getting quite concerned. I'm 11 weeks postop and down 60 pounds... I don't want to bug the doctor with things that are "normal." — Deborah F. (posted on April 1, 2004)

Hi there -- I was having the same problem with food. In fact I will
probably NEVER eat eggs again. I ate slow, chewed well and still had
problems with every type of "solid" protein. Sick and terrible
pain. Just recently have I been able to eat some solid protein. I am 2
days shy of my 5 month anniversary and just started being able to eat some
solid protein about 3-4 weeks ago. If you take a look at my profile, you
will see that I was advised by my dietician to try salads. I thought -
"NO way will my baby tummy like them" -- guess what, that has
been my staple. I will tell you right now, cheese (i.e. from pizza-just
the cheese or pieces of cheese) makes me VERY sick and causes intense pain
even now. Hope this helps -- just like everyone told me, you WILL get pass
this. Some of us have very sensitive tummies! If it still continues to the
point of not being able to keep anything down, CALL YOUR DR!! Good luck

Deborah.....please do call your Dr. as you might have a stricture. A
stricture could be causing your pain; however, it can be easily corrected
and you will feel soooo much better...promise.

I agree - call you doctor. This is during the prime time when strictures
are most likely to occur.

Don't worry about bothering your Dr. that is what he is there for. I had my
surgery on 2/2/04 and I have a stricture. I went on Wed. to be scoped and
have it opened and it is wonderful. Very easy I was in the hospital and
back home within a couple of hours. And no more pain or vomiting when I
eat. I feel great. I have to have it done again next Wed. because they have
to open the stricture slowly. ( I had a very bad stricture ) But I am not
worried it was so easy to go through. So please call your Doctor, it is
well worth it. Take care and GOOD LUCK Sue

Hey- it depends on where the pain is. If you didnt have a gallbladder
removal then it could very possibly be your gallbladder. And gallbladder
attacks most commonly occur after eating something. I would call the
doctor. Its not like he isnt getting PAID for all of this!
