Question:
How do I go about getting considered for surgery in Ontario Canada?

I am a 21 year old female, at 5'3 and 243lbs with diabetes, high blood pressure and joint pains. I am currently seeing my family doctor monthly for weight updates. I haven't lost any weight I've actually gained weight on the new diet I am on. Especially after a initial 20lbs weight loss. Which discourages me to no end. Anyways.. How do I go about being consider for surgery? Do I mention to my doctor or something? And what qualifications do you need to get it covered by ohip? (provincial health insurance) I am sorry if these questions sound stupid, but after alot of research I haven't found alot of information about it here in Canada. Thanks to whoever reads this.    — Joelene (posted on March 15, 2004)
